How to Change Government Reforms in EU4

Speed up government reform progress with the reformprogress command, or wipe your reforms with clearreforms, in Europa Universalis IV.

Government reforms are picked one per tier and gated behind reform progress that takes years to build up. There's no command to set an exact reform, but reformprogress hands you the progress to pass the next tier, and clearreforms wipes your reforms so you can start over.

How to change government reforms in EU4

  1. Open the console.
  2. Type reformprogress (adds 500 progress) and press Enter, then open the government screen and pick the next reform. To start fresh, run clearreforms first.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a console command to pick a specific government reform in EU4?

No — there's no command that sets an exact reform by id. Instead, reformprogress gives you government reform progress so you can pass the next reform tier and choose the reform you want in-game.

How do I get government reform progress with the console?

Use reformprogress (it adds 500 points by default), or reformprogress <points> to add a specific amount. Once you have enough progress you can pick the next reform in the government screen.

How do I reset my government reforms in EU4?

Use clearreforms to remove all of your government reforms, then re-pick them from the first tier.
