Articles of Confederation

The Thirteen States that established the United States as a confederation of sovereign states have approved a version of the Articles of Confederation and sent to the states for them to ratify. It has provided domestic and international legitimacy for the Continental Congress to direct the American Revolutionary War, conduct diplomacy with Europe and deal with territorial issues and Indian relations even though it is not yet ratified. There has been long debates on issues such as sovereignty, the exact powers to be given the confederate government, whether to have a judiciary, and voting procedures during the drafting of the Articles.
