Ideals of the Enlightenment and the Serfdom

Too many ordinary ours have been enslaved through the serfdom. In strong contrast to the ideals of the Enlightenment, the realm of our nation is built on the hard labor of peasants who are comparable to the cattle they work with.\nHowever, due to the strong influence the the nobility exercise over the serfs and court, there is little to be done about the situation of these unfortunate people. The best our ruler our ruler can offer, without causing a civil war, is educating the serfs' children, lend them money, institute a system of free medical care, give them more land for their use, and upgrade agricultural technology.\nAnd even then, these changes can be seen as an attack on the freedom of the the nobility...
