What happens
The Tatar Yoke is a tributary system enforced on the Russians ever since the fall of the Kievan Rus' to the Mongol Horde in 1248. The Grand Principality has become the intermediary between the hordes and the Russian lands after Ivan I of Moscow has joined his overlords against a rebellion led by his rival and prince from Tver in 1327. The Mongols have granted our principality the right to govern the Rus' and collect their tributary in their name.\n\nNowadays, this Tatar Yoke is on its last legs as the Golden Horde declined and splintered under its own weight. While our nation is de jure still a tributary state of the hordes, it is de facto our ruler our ruler who is ruling over Russia without the influence of the Tatar.
