Rise of our nation

The city of our nation, meaning Lion City and called Temasek in the past, rose as an important trading city for the different Malay and Javanese sea kingdoms and empires. It even served as the capital of the kingdom of Singapura, from which it later took the name. Situated at a crucial choke point of the trade flow between China and India, it has seen merchants and products from all places constantly come and go.\n\nHe who controls it, and the commerce that flows through it, will be able to be the one that controls the trade between the East and the West, benefiting greatly from both sides of it.
