What happens

Since her arrival in, Marie Tussaud has traveled with her collection of wax portraits, including those of Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, Marat, and Robespierre. Born in Strasbourg, two months after her father's death, Marie moved to Bern with her mother who worked as a housekeeper for the physician and wax sculptor Dr. Philippe Curtius who taught her the art of wax modelling and employed her as an artist when she showed great talent for the technique. Her very first wax figure was of Voltaire. Though we cannot be certain that she tells the truth, she claims to have been employed to teach Élisabeth, Louis XVI's sister, votive making and that the royal family was very pleased with her work. Whispers of how she searched through sanitaries to find and collect the most illustrious heads to create wax portraits of might be true, for it is certain that she was employed to make death masks of the Revolution's victims.
