What happens
The natives whisper and throw evil glances toward the still water. They say that there is a spirit there, in the form of a great serpent or monster. They claim that this spirit ambushes canoes on the surface, pulling them to a watery grave. It may not be the work of monsters, but perhaps it would be wise to go the long way around?
