What happens
In the year of 1566 AD, the Vellore Fort was built by Chinna Bommi Nayak and Thimma Reddy Nayak, Chieftains under the Vijayanagara Empire. Its grand ramparts, wide moat and robust masonry have made it famous, and it was constructed in granite from the nearby quarries in Arcot and Chittor districts. Inside the fort is a temple dedicated to Jalagandeeswar and noted for its sculptures.
