What happens
Sultan Süleyman I became known as Kanuni - Lawgiver - to his own people thanks to his extensive legal reforms and just rule. While further codifying the dynastic laws, 'kanun', he worked in conjunction with the famous Sheikh al-Islam Ebussuud Efendi to bring them in line with Muslim Shari'ah laws, creating a more harmonious legal system for the empire.
