Fate of the Devshirme

The Devshirme System has proven its value over the years as it served as the main source of new Janissary recruits for our armies. However, as time went on, the system has been increasingly ignored as Muslim families smuggled their own children in it in favor for a better future for them. Nowadays, the Devshirme is no more but a name of a past way of conscription.\nIt is apparent that reformations are much needed. The conservative side of the government is in favor of overhauling it while the military staff is in favor of abolishing it entirely and introducing a more general conscription.
