What happens
The Swedish warship Vasa was built as a symbol of Sweden's military and political power and Gustavus Adolphus's authority as a warrior king. At the time she was one of the largest and most heavily armed warships in the world. Constructed between 1626 and 1628, no expense was spared in decorating and equipping her, and she featured no less than 64 guns. The problem was that Vasa was built top-heavy and had insufficient ballast to support that many guns. On her maiden voyage on the 10 August 1628, the ship foundered and sank outside Beckholmen after sailing less than a nautical mile
