Finally free of the plague, the time has come for our to make good on their pledge to erect a Mercy Column. The only real choice we have is what the column should look like. As a symbol of a fresh start, architects have suggested we make the column as modern as possible, a high baroque monument. Others, however, feel that the only proper way to mourn the dead is a more restrained, conservative column without pretentions to be on the forefront of architectural style.
