What happens
A man has come from the coast. He calls himself a Portuguese exile, a "degregado." He has a gift for languages, and says he has been working as a translator at one of the settlements on the coast that we do trade with. Now he wishes to explore the interior, and discover the source of the gold trade along the coast.\nWe have no reason to distrust this man, but the greedy Portuguese traders are another matter.
