This command toggles smooth frame logging.
The command smoothframelog
in Europa Universalis IV is essentially a debugging tool for the game, used primarily by developers, but available for all players. When this command is activated, it enables or disables smooth frame logging.
The game engine constantly processes different aspects of the game, from AI actions to visual effects, and all of these elements can impact the game's framerate.
During normal gameplay, this fluctuation is often hidden away. However, if there are performance issues and you need to investigate, smoothframelog
can be exceedingly useful.
When activated, it starts logging the framedrop/smoothness of the frames into a text document within the game’s local folders. By having a log of frames per second (fps) over a period of time, you can identify if there are certain patterns or points in the gameplay that consistently cause drops in framerate.
