The remove_march
command in Europa Universalis IV is used to revoke the march status of a specified country.
When you set a country as a march in EU4, they become a protective buffer state to your kingdom.
They receive benefits such as increased defensive capabilities, but they are also subservient to you, as they cannot conduct their own diplomatic relationships and you do not receive taxes from them.
However, if the situation changes and you no longer require that country to be a march, that's when the remove_march [Country ID]
command comes into play. The command effectively removes the march status from the country keyed in, reverting them to a normal vassal or independent state depending on the previous arrangements.
The country will no longer receive the defensive bonuses it had as a march, and can again conduct its own diplomacy. The normal penalties that accompany demoting a march in-game will also apply here.
This command is best used when it suits the changing dynamics of your strategic choices. For example, if a former frontier has stabilized and you want to resume collecting taxes from that vassal, or if a powerful enemy has been subdued making a military buffer state unnecessary, it would be wise to use the command.

They receive military bonuses and do not pay taxes to their overlord, but also cannot expand via diplomacy. Using this command will impact the game by ending these benefits and responsibilities, which will affect the game balance dependent on the involved countries' situation in the game.
