Quick Overview

When executed, this command removes the current Defender of the Faith for the player's religion. The Defender of the Faith is a special role a country can take for a specific religion.

In-Depth Description

The remove_defender_faith is a cheat command in Europa Universalis IV (EU4). This command removes the assigned Defender of the Faith for the player's religion.

In EU4, a Defender of the Faith is a nation that can pay to secure this title and it provides benefits such as morale for armies and navies, additional missionaries, and war exhaustion reduction.

The downside is that Defender of the Faith has to accept calls to war against foreign powers attacking any nation of the same faith.

The remove_defender_faith command allows players to remove this dimension from their gameplay if they have been designated or have assumed the role of defender, and they no longer want to perform the obligations associated with this role.

For instance, you may use this command when your nation is mature and stable, and you wish to steer clear of unwelcome wars, or if you want to reduce the significant cost of maintaining this designation.

How to Open the Command Console

In EU4, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
