Quick Overview

The mapmode command in Europa Universalis IV allows you to change the way the game's map is displayed.

Here's what those extra options mean:

  1. aieval: Displays the AI's warscore evaluation of all enemy provinces in the current war.

  2. aihre: Switches the map mode to display which AI nations will potentially join the Holy Roman Empire (HRE).

  3. airegion

  4. aithreateval

  5. armyeval: Changes the map mode to display the AI’s military strength. The higher the number, the stronger the AI believes its military is compared to others.

  6. buildingeval: This changes the map mode to show how the AI evaluates where to construct its buildings. When a building is selected in the macro builder, it shows the scores of that building.

  7. controllerarea

  8. ownerarea

  9. pathfind: Upon previous army selection, the map displays pathfinding information towards the selected province.

  10. province_flags: Displays a list of hidden flags associated with each province, along with the date they were set.

  11. winterpower: This map mode displays a value for winter, presumably indicating its severity or impact.

How to Open the Command Console

In EU4, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
