Quick Overview

The imperial_authority command in Europa Universalis IV is used to boost the authority level of the Emperor within the Holy Roman Empire.

When this command is executed, it adds a specified amount of Imperial Authority to the ruling Emperor, improving his position and power within the Empire.

In-Depth Description

The imperial_authority is a console command in Europa Universalis IV (EU4) that is typically used to increase the amount of imperial authority that the Holy Roman Emperor currently has.

Imperial Authority (IA) is a unique mechanic in EU4 for the Holy Roman Emperor. It represents the political sway, influence, and control the emperor has over the princes in the empire.

It starts at 0 and can go up to 100, and is influenced by a variety of in-game factors such as the number of free cities, peacefulness within the empire, and the emperor's actions.

The imperial_authority command represents a way to manually increase this authority outside of the normal gameplay mechanics.

It could be used in several instances, particularly when playing as the emperor and influence within the empire is needed promptly.

It is mostly used when an emperor wants to pass Imperial Reforms swiftly or when immediate control is necessary during HRE internal wars.

The command does not have any parameters, meaning that using the imperial_authority command will automatically increase the authority by 1.

If you specify a number after the command, like imperial_authority 30, then the imperial authority will increase by that number.

For instance, if you had 10 IA and used the command imperial_authority 20, you'd end up with 30 IA.

How to Open the Command Console

In EU4, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~

  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
