This command sets the controller of a specified province to the specified country tag (if no country tag is specified, the country that you're playing as will become the controller).

control [Province ID] [Country Tag]


The ID of the province you wish to change the controller of.


Optional. The country tag of the country you wish to make the controller of the specified province. If a country tag is not specified, the country you are currently playing as will become the controller of the specified province.


Here are examples of how to use control.

control 183

Paris' province ID is 272, this command would make the country you are currently playing as the controller of Paris.

combat_dice 183 JAP

This command will Japan (country code JAP) the controller of Paris (province ID 183).

The control command in Europa Universalis IV is used to change the controller of a particular province.

You need to specify the province ID and the country tag of the nation you want to give control to.

This command functions in such a way to simulate a province being conquered by a certain nation.

How to Open the Command Console

In EU4, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
