In-Depth Description

The collision command in Europa Universalis IV is a debug tool primarily used by game developers for testing and adjusting the game. When activated, this command toggles the debug display of normals, bounding boxes, and collision aspects within the game.

A "Bounding Box" represents the physical shape and size of in-game objects used by the game engine to detect physical interactions such as collisions.

"Normals" often refers to vector fields that are used in 3D graphics to show orientation and are used to determine how light reflects off a surface within game physics.

By activating the collision debug display, game developers can directly observe and diagnose any issues with the collision physics in real time, such as objects passing through each other when they shouldn't, or perhaps incorrect surface normals leading to unexpected lighting results.

How to Open the Command Console

In EU4, cheats are executed from the command console, a text box that you type commands into.

To open the command console press the ~(tilde) key, which is typically located under ESC (escape).

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ~
  • SHIFT + 2
  • SHIFT + 3
  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
