In-Depth Description

The add_consort command in Europa Universalis IV (EU4) is used to instantly add a consort from a specific tag to your nation. A tag is a three-letter country code for every nation in the game.

This command is important in monarchical government types where consorts play a critical role. A consort stands in as a 'standby' ruler if your current monarch dies without any legal heir. This can prevent a succession crisis and maintain the stability of your nation.

The command usage is add_consort ENG, where 'ENG' is an example of a ‘tag’. This command will add a consort from England to your empire. Please remember that consorts can have different skills and their skills are used to manage your empire effectively while they are in rule.

This command might be most useful when your monarch is older or sickly and there's no heir to the throne. It also helps to add a strategic ally to your monarchy, as consorts often originate from different countries and can bring new diplomatic opportunities.

How to Open the Command Console

If your keyboard does not have that key, or pressing ~ does not work, try the following keys:

  • ALT + 2 + 1

Type your command into the console, and then press ENTER .
